Sergio Viscoli, a New Mexico native, was born in Santa Fe and currently resides in Albuquerque. Although a lifelong photographer, Sergio began pastel painting in 1991 while living in Clovis, New Mexico and working as a lawyer. There he studied under Bruce DeFoor, an avid plein air painter, and chair of the Art Department at the Clovis Community College. Upon moving to Albuquerque, Sergio studied art and print making at the University of New Mexico. Sergio has also taken workshops with many artists, including Albert Handell, Doug Dawson, Deborah Secor, Desmond O’Hagan and Richard McKinley. Sergio has shown work at Patrician Design, Satellite Coffee and the Peanut Gallery in Santa Fe. He has participated in numerous group shows including the Pastel Society of New Mexico National Exhibitions, the Pastel Society of America, and Masterworks of New Mexico. He has won several awards and many people have bought his paintings. Sergio paints both plein air landscapes and cityscapes. Recently, he has become passionately involved with the latter. His interest is drawn to the abstract shapes and colorful patterns that are found in windows, especially at night. His art may be viewed at www.DesertLightStudio.net. |
